Atlas Asia Law Corporation, an independent member firm of the global EY network, has recently appointed Benjamin Szeto as Director.
Benjamin has been helping families, business owners and high net worth individuals to craft structures, solutions and strategies to protect, preserve and pass on wealth. For over 20 years, he has advised on a wide range of transactions including trusts, investments and real estate, spanning diverse jurisdictions.
Benjamin is a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and was an author for LexisNexis Practical Guidance Singapore on Trusts. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore (1998). He was conferred a Master of Science (Real Estate) from the National University of Singapore and holds a Diploma in Financial Management from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Before joining AALC, Benjamin was the Deputy Head of the Private Wealth Industry Group of RHTLaw Asia LLP.
Evelyn Ang, Managing Director of Atlas Asia Law Corporation, says:
“In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of family offices and high net worth individuals in Singapore. We are pleased to set up our private wealth practice in Singapore with Benjamin joining us to focus on helping family offices and high net worth individuals to manage their wealth. I am confident that clients will benefit from his depth and breadth of experience on private wealth matters such as structuring of trusts and wills, as well as working with tax professionals on the separation of business risk from family wealth.”
Dmitry Tetiouchev, EY Asia-Pacific Law Leader, says:
“We are growing at all levels within both the Singapore and Asia-Pacific law services. With Ben joining AALC, we are underscoring the importance of the private client services in Singapore and the growth opportunities it offers.”
Desmond Teo, EY Asia-Pacific Growth Markets Financial Services Tax Leader, says:
“EY has a long, distinctive history of supporting many of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs and business owners, including running the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® program for over 30 years throughout more than 60 jurisdictions. As families and their businesses grow, their circumstances and needs become more complex, and we are constantly building up our capabilities to support our clients, their families and their businesses in managing these complexities.”
The addition of Benjamin to AALC demonstrates the organization’s continued growth and expansion of its service offerings. Earlier this month, AALC had welcomed Emily Low as a new addition to lead its Investment Funds and Financial Regulatory practice. Emily was previously General Counsel at Liquid Group, Head of the Singapore Investment Funds Practice at White & Case LLP, and Head of the Investment Funds Practice at Allen & Gledhill LLP.
